A little About. When 911 struck way back in 2001 - Me & my wife moved our then 3 young children to Greensboro, NC. While living and working there I attended the Guilford County Sheriff's Offices Citizens Academy. All my life - I keep hearing and witnessing the drama, and negative attitudes about police. Despite all the wonderful stories of their heroism - displayed minute-by-minute across the globe; for the work these women & men perform... to work to protect the community. I just wanted to see a different - hear a different perspective. I saw an advertisement about how members of the community could sign-up for and attend a program/academy where you could learn more about how the Sheriff's department operated. I think it covered like 12 weeks. I went and was thoroughly impressed by the volunteers who participated in helping the department and in helping us/citizens understand the service work that the sheriffs perform. I need to provide advocacy for the work of police. It is truly honorable - their service... at such great risk to their & their families' welfare they perform for us. I'm making an effort to say & demonstrate... Police officers' service is respected and appreciated. Necessary. Join me/us.... in sharing & bellowing that sentiment. Maybe bring about a renaissance in a glowing warmth of admiration and the sharing of flowers - than they deserve. Cultivate and nurture an attitude of gratitude... in a hope that these fine civic-servants can feel a comforting air of support & like-wise enjoy more fully... commUnity.
